1) See maps for terminology
2) B = Beginner: I can identify some of the bird species that visit my garden. I = Intermediate: I can identify all the bird species that visit my garden. A = Accomplished: I can identify most species I encounter anywhere in my State (with some help from a field guide).
3) In 2002 a Superb (purple-crowned?)Fruit-dove hit a window at Twyford Avenue, Earlwood and died. Young male starting to moult. As at June 2007 it is kept frozen in The Australian Museum, College Street, Sydney; photo coming.
4) sort of stooging around west of the footbridge. Brown Goshawks do that. They kind of glide around close to the ground and often go to ground in trees.
5) For more photos of the Variegated Wren including female and nestlings, see this album
