While there are commercial fittings for plastic bottles that enable conversion into an individual plant waterer, it is possible to make your own very simply and cheaply:
Use a two litre container with a handle. Punch a hole in the “top” of the handle loop as shown. Keep the lid on it.
Cut a slice off the bottom of the container; discard the bottom piece OR keep as a plant label.
Push a stake through the hole in the handle and the open bottom of the bottle and then up end the whole thing, such that the lid is on the bottom.
Stand it on the earth next to the plant you wish watered and push the stake down into the earth. The stake will both steady the bottle AND guide the water drops down into the root zone.
When the holder becomes a bit dirty and possibly blocked, just slide the container up along the stake a few inches and undo the cap. The dirty stuff just drains out and you can re-screw the cap onto the bottle and reseat the whole thing again.
Once you get neat holes in the bottle for threading the stakes through, it can make a very slow dripping system.
